Revive @ Home: Sunroom Reveal

I'm so excited to share the final space in our home renovation with you today - the sunroom! This final project was more of a cosmetic facelift than the other spaces in our home, but as you can see from the "before" photos below, it's still quite the transformation!

After

Updates

This space opens off of our dining room (you got the tiniest peek of it in our kitchen + dining room reveal last week), and while it is its own separate space, we still wanted it to feel cohesive and flow well with the style of the rest of the home. The most impactful change we made in the sunroom was painting over the knotty pine plank walls and ceiling - it completely transformed this space! We went with a soft white paint color with a slight gray undertone for the walls, while the ceiling contrasts sharply using the same black color that you've seen in several areas of our home so far including the cabinets in our entry + pantry space, the shiplap accent wall in our master bedroom, and the ceiling in the master bathroom.

We also swapped out the carpeting for the same black stone-look luxury vinyl flooring that we used in our master bathroom which gives us a nice break from the wood flooring that we used throughout the rest of the main living space. The french doors tie in beautifully with the black floor and ceiling, and we love that you can see right into the main living space from this room (and visa versa!) and can appreciate how seamlessly one space flows into the next yet still feel distinctly different.

Furnishings

As you can see, I was not afraid to go bold with color and pattern in this space! Having the sunroom completely separated from the other areas of the house, I took some fun risks in the sunroom while still staying true to our design style, color palette, and the overall vibe of the house.

Mustard yellow is my favorite color, so I opted for a large dose of it in this space with the large sectional - it's quite the showstopper! We have loved getting to stretch out and relax on the extra-deep cushions (and believe us, we've been taking full advantage!). The big punch of color really makes sense in this space and it flows well with the other smaller mustard details throughout the rest of the rooms on the main floor.

We brought in a wool tassel area rug with bold colors and fun pattern that adds a ton of style to this room. Pairing it with the sofa has totally set the tone for this space - making it feel fresh, bright, and fun! The thickness of the wool really helps to cozy up this space too! Just like in the living room we've added several fun throw pillows that work to add some visual interest with their textures, while also really reinforcing the color palette in this space, making everything feel perfectly cohesive. Finally, we incorporated a pair of teal armchairs for additional seating when we entertain that also coordinate with the rug - I love the extra punch of bold color that they bring to the room.

Other Details

How many plants can you spot in this space? I love plants and the extra life that they breathe into any room (literally!), especially in the sunroom. You'll spot hanging baskets in the corner, a snake plant in a potted stand, a cane plant, and a potted succulent all happy and thriving in this bright and sunny space! It felt really important to have greenery in here that we can enjoy all year long.

I also brought in a rattan coffee table that not only brings a lot of function into the space, but that helps to pull all of the natural elements of this space together so nicely, which I thought was really important in a sunroom.

Lighting

This space has so much beautiful natural lighting, but we've also incorporated lighting fixtures to add some extra light and warmth to this space at night or even on the cloudiest of days. We swapped out the previous ceiling fan for a more modern alternative and added a 3-light arch lamp in the corner that adds some nice height and draws your eye upward. We also added a wall lamp to the opposite wall which was a great solution as it doesn't take up floor or table space and didn't need to be hardwired, making it a perfect fix for our lighting dilemma!

We are truly overjoyed with how this space turned out. The sunroom has a beautiful view out into the backyard and is such a relaxing and rejuvenating space to drink our morning coffee or enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the night. This is a screen-free zone most of the time, and it's been awesome to have a designated spot for distraction-free conversation and to enjoy one another's company - it's quickly become one of our favorite spots in the entire house!
